He raises some valid points, but truthfully this whole thing is probably a lot more complicated than just “nature vs. nurture”, and it’s pointless to just boil it down to either one. And before you take sides, ask yourself if just because something is natural, makes it okay.

There isn’t any known “nurture” component to homosexuality. It’s completely biological.

Many “natural” acts are immoral (rape is very natural, for instance). But a good reason to believe that something is wrong (ie: it hurts someone, like rape), it’s stupid to believe that it’s a sin.

Yes he did. He compared being gay to being straight. There should be no comparison. Being gay is a disfunction. You shouldn’t compare a good moral choice with a degenerative one. He was talking about how he ‘accepted’ homosexuality, as if he all of a sudden he realized it was okay. It’s not.

a 15 year old boy had sex with his female teacher who was 30. Would it be different if it was a 30 year old man and a 15 year old girl?

One thing I find odd, is people (not you, generalizing) like to shove sex down kids throat since birth practically and even go so far as to say sex is ok during adolescence (provided it’s with someone else that’s young) with a condom and so on.

Pedofiles can never argue some young girls, or boys are mentally capable simply because there brains do not stop growing majorly until around 16. The body may be ready at 12, but the mind is not. Also, if you could transplant your wifes brain into a 12 year old. Then it would no longer be wrong in a sense, since it would be both mentally and physically ready. Not suggesting that, since it’s not possible, and disturbing.

Well, I wasn’t hoping to turn this into an exact number/age it’s ok thing. But, let’s take the 16 year old then. If he/she was in a relationship with a 30 year old I think we could all safely bet most people would still find that wrong despite the fact they both seem happy. This is really the point I was after.

Being gay is NOT WRONG. However, your argument ignores and assumes science. WE DO KNOW WHY things are bitter and why we do not like them. WE DON’T KNOW HOW much of being gay is nature and nurture.

I drink diet coke. I didn’t like diet coke before however I forced myself to drink it and have now come to like it more then regular coke. How much of this is nature can be argued. Most of it thou, was nurture.

I have no doubt in my mind that some people are born gay. However, I have no doubt in my mind that some people become conditioned to be gay. I also think there is a healthy interplay between both. What this guy is doing is bastardizing logic and psychology and ignoring things like behavior extinction. I agree with your stance, please read a text book.

i dont think being gay is wrong and i have nothing against gay people…i just think its not natural since in nature its female + male = baby. i think theres some phycological stuff that has to do with being gay. you cant choose who or why your attracted someone regardless of sexual orientation…its none of everyone elses business when it comes to who you love and how you love. as long as its love…and not hate…why should it matter?
